Adam Savage spent nearly two years reworking an Emeco 1006 Navy Chair, drilling thousands of holes into its welded-aluminum frame to see just how light he could make it. What began as a simple weight-reduction experiment quickly turned into a precision-driven project, with meticulous hole layouts and machining steps far more complex than he first imagined.
Even though the Navy Chair was already a WWII-era icon of minimalist, durable design, Adam’s deep dive into its structure gave him (and us) a whole new appreciation for the balance between form, function, and the craft it takes to push a classic even further.
