Adam Savage's Tested: Which Theodore Roosevelt Trunk Is a Replica?

Sometimes museums swap out originals for replicas, and in this Tested episode Adam Savage teams up with NPS wooden artifacts conservator Curtis Sullivan to unveil the three-year process behind recreating one of Theodore Roosevelt’s iconic traveling trunks. Viewers are challenged to spot which of the two trunks on display is truly the Roosevelt original.

The National Park Service’s Museum Conservation Lab is operating on a lease extended for only one more year, making its future uncertain. If you’d like to support their work, consider visiting your local national parks, writing to your representatives in favor of the NPS, or donating to the National Park Conservation Association.
